4 POSTERS: THE BYPRODUCT OF CREATIVITY CONSTIPATION
Is a self-directed project derived from a personal experience of going through a so-called ‘creativity crisis’. The idea was inspired by the 5 Stages of Grief concept and the “Wreck This Journal” by Keri Smith. I chose the phrases that I tell myself of others tell me in relation to the creativity crisis topic, printed them on varied paper stock in a sans serif typeface. Then, I was defacing the posters intentionally not thinking what and why I was doing neither of what would be the result of those actions. I wanted to challenge myself by avoiding controlling or planning the process, my focus was on having fun and allowing my inner perfectionist to suffer through it. Stepping on, tearing to pieces, rubbing on grass, letting be rained on, boiling, etc. were some of the preformed actions. ¶ This project was a way to allow myself to let go of the constant urge to obsess over the process and continue tweaking my work until it reaches evasive and oh-so-subjective perfection. ¶ In the end, I put the posters together, scanned them and printed over again twice the original size.
